Media Conference on ‘Tarsilah Brunei’ Book

The Brunei History Centre will launch the third volume of Tarsilah Brunei: Wasilah Ketakhtaan Kesultanan Brunei tahun 1659 hingga 1828 Masihi book, written by Yang Berhormat Pehin Jawatan Dalam Seri Maharaja Dato Seri Utama Honorary Professor Doctor Haji Awang Mohd Jamil Al-Sufri. The Launching Ceremony of the new book will take place this 25th of February as stated during the Media Conference at the Brunei History Centre, yesterday afternoon. The publication and launch of the book, among other things, provides the people in the country a greater awareness of the role of history in achieving independence.

The new book is a continuation of the first and second volumes of Tarsilah Brunei which have been published. The First Volume of Tarsilah Brunei contains the early history and development of Islam and Second Volume of Tarsilah contains the Age of glory and history of Brune's kings who have played their role in developing Brunei, while the third volume highlights deeper into the strength of the system and structure of the Brunei Sultanate. According to Awang Hanafi Bin Haji Salleh, Deputy Head of Brunei History Centre, the Tarsilah Brunei: Wasilah Ketakhtaan Kesultanan Brunei 1659 hingga 1828 masihi, third volume contains 10 chapters. Every chapters discuss in depth on the system and structure of the Brunei Sultanate. He also said that the publication's objective is to further enliven the Brunei Darussalam's 36th National Day Celebration and also to further disseminate the Brunei History Centre's role and function as a publication institution.

Meanwhile, the Brunei History Center hopes that the public will purchase all three volumes as it has a story that is closely linked to all volumes. Dayang Hajah Fatimah Binti Haji Talip, Chief Editor of the Brunei History Centre said that centre hopes the government departments and ministries as well as higher education institution to obtain the book as part of collection specifically the collection of local history and used it as readings of references.
