18 packets of marinated lamb and processed beef of various brands weighing 22.75 kilogrammes were seized during a joint operation on the 21st of March 2023 in Kampung Padnunok, Tutong District. The operation involved enforcement officers from the Halal Food Control Division, Ministry of Religious Affairs and the Customs and Excise Department.

The case was handed over to the Customs and Excise Department for investigation and action. The Ministry of Religious Affairs reminds members of the public who wish to bring in halal raw meat into the country to obtain the Halal Import Permit apart from meeting the requirements set by other agencies pertaining to halal meat import. This is to ensure that all meat that are bought and sold in the country especially to Muslims are guaranteed halal.
