Launching of E-SHENA

In Brunei Darussalam, over the last 9 years a total of 68 work-related fatalities have been recorded and the majority of those occurred in the construction industry. While statistically, the work-related fatalities seeing a general downtrend, but this is still not acceptable, because every life lost is one too many. Speaking at the launching of E-SHENA, an online registration portal in conjunction with World Day for Safety and Health at Work 2022 yesterday morning, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Docor Awang Haji Mat Suny bin Haji Md Hussien, Minister of Energy as Minister-in-Charge for Safety, Health and Environment National Authority, SHENA, said thus all the workplaces and industries must remain vigilant and hold closer scrutiny so as to avoid such occurrences and have to acknowledge that this is an enormous task to be tackled and SHENA requires the support from all. The minister of Energy added everyone has an important role to play to create a positive and preventative safety and health culture in the workplace, in order to prevent the next occupational injury or fatality.

E-SHENA is introduced to allow its stakeholders to apply for registration of their Workplace Safety and Health Officer, Radiation Workers and Licenses at their own convenient time. The World Day for Safety and Health at Work falls on the 28th of April each year. This year's theme, 'Act Together to Build a Positive Safety and Health Culture'. Also present was Dato Seri Paduka Architect Awang Haji Marzuke bin Haji Mohsin, Deputy Minister of Development as Chairman of SHENA Board of Directors.
