Wargamas Association is urged to continue work together with the government, non-government organisations and the private sector to ensure that objectives of the Poverty Action Plan can be achieved. As a leading party in senior citizen's well-being and rights, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports welcomes the proposed cooperation from Wargamas Association to build the potential of senior citizens in the economy and eradicate poverty as well as unemployment in country. Speaking at the launching of the First Annual General Meeting of Wargamas yesterday morning at the Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium, Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports highly welcomed the establishment of Wargamas that aims to unite senior citizens in making the Wawasan Brunei 2035 a success, specifically in achieving a high quality of life and having a dynamic and sustainable economy.
Yang Berhormat further said that as senior citizens are rich with beneficial experience and knowledge, they are valuable assets in contributing ideas and act as the best guide for the current generation.
Earlier, Pengiran Haji Mohd Salleh bin Pengiran Haji Kamaluddin, President of Wargamas in his speech highlighted the goals of the association's establishment, that is to unite all senior citizens to uphold the nation's development, well-being and harmony. The meeting's agenda included electing the Wargamas Executive Committee members. The association was established on the 24th of August last year and now has 392 members.
