The One Week One Chapter programme is held to uphold his Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's titah, where religious education specifically in the basic learning of Al-Quran should be strengthened. Yesterday afternoon, the Khatam Al-Quran ceremony was held for Tutong District Religious Schools' pupils in the programme.
229 pre-school to primary 5 pupils at all religious schools in the Tutong District were celebrated with a Khatam Al-Quran ceremony after completing the reading of 30 Chapters of Al-Quran. Present was Dato Seri Paduka Awang Haji Ahmaddin bin Haji Abdul Rahman, the Deputy Minister of Finance and Economy for Fiscal at the Ministry of Finance and Economy. Also present were Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Abdul Wahab bin Apong, Member of the Legislative Council and Awang Shamsul Bahrin bin Haji Mohd Hussain, Tutong District Officer.
Such a ceremony aimed to further develop the quality of Al-Quran reading among the religious school's pupils through the practises of Al-Quran reading with mentor and instil as well as educate them to always read, love and listen to Al-Quran as their daily practises.
