A company was issued a Seizure Notice during a joint operation conducted by the Department of Consumer Affairs together with the Weights and Measures Unit, SDT on 14th January involving business premises at Kiulap, Brunei Muara District.

Parvati Textile Centre was issued a Seizure Notice for failing to comply with the Weights and Measures Act 1983 Chapter 151, namely for using measuring equipment whose registration period has expired. The company's owner is required to report to the SDT Unit office within seven days.

The joint inspection carried out on a monthly basis aimed to ensure compliance to the Price Control Act, Chapter 142 and the Regulations under it, and the Weights and Measures Act 1983, Chapter 151, which are under the supervision of DEPS and the SDT Unit respectively. The joint inspection in January 2023 focuses on the participants of Brunei Salebration 2022. This is to ensure that the participants are carrying out businesses in an ethical manner and to ensure that any weighing and measuring equipment used are valid and legally registered with the law.
