​The Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications in collaboration with various parties will ensure and prioritise the best safety level for the well-being of airport users, aside from improving the public’s confidence through innovative and technology project. This is inline with the direction towards achieving the Smart Nation vision. In a message in conjunction with the International Civil Aviation Day 2022, the Minister of Transport and Infocommunications stated Brunei Darussalam’s aviation sector through the Brunei International Airport witnessed an increasing demand for cargo space for import and export following the addition of air cargo operators at the airport.

 

Yang Berhormat Pengiran Dato Seri Setia Shamhary bin Pengiran Dato Paduka Haji Mustapha said Brunei Darussalam as a member state of the International Civil Aviation Organisation, ICAO through the Department of Civil Aviation, Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications supports ICAO’s efforts in implementing the ICAO Council’s Aviation Recovery Taskforce or CART guideline for mitigation measures to reduce health risks to passengers and workers at the airport. The said guideline can improve the confidence of the public, airport workers, global supply chains and the government.

 

In 2022, Brunei International Airport showed highly encouraging growth in air traffic arrivals and departures. Towards the goal of providing the best services to passengers throughout their travel, the Department of Civil Aviation together with stakeholders will continue to work together in adhering to the civil aviation safety and security standards, aside from ensuring comfort and smooth running of the overall airport processes. The International Civil Aviation Day is celebrated every 7th of December to commemorate the establishment of the ICAO. The celebration theme for 2020 to 2023 is ‘Advancing Innovation for Global Aviation Development’.
