Extensive understanding and knowledge of breast cancer in the community is very important. The Minister of Health shared the matter at the media conference, in conjunction with Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

Yang Berhormat said Breast Cancer Awareness Month celebrated every October aims to draw the public's attention to the disease. Increasing understanding and knowledge of the disease are important as an initial step to reduce the incidences of breast cancer in the community; prevent and control breast cancer as well as address its related issues; and also to increase the support in our community and environment. In doing so, it is hoped to spread awareness about the importance of Breast Self-Examination, BSE; seek treatment when needed; and provide support and encouragement to those with breast cancer. Therefore, during the Breast Cancer Awareness Month and at a time when the country is still hit by the COVID-19 pandemic, the Ministry of Health remains committed and will continue to provide the necessary attention, health care and support.
