As the country’s COVID-19 situation is under control, the country began to implement more de-escalation plans. This includes De-escalation Operational Readiness Level 2 for sports centres and facilities, and De-escalation Operational Readiness Level 1 for Senior Citizen Activity Centre, Museums, Exhibition Galleries and Libraries. Yang Berhormat Retired Major General Dato Paduka Seri Haji Aminuddin Ihsan bin Pehin Orang Kaya Saiful Mulok Dato Seri Paduka Haji Abidin, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports shared the matter in the media conference together with the Minister of Health.
Yang Berhormat said that under Operational Readiness Level 2, the capacity allowed for the 4 facilities has been updated, while other terms and guidelines still remain. For gyms, fitness centres, indoor and outdoor sports facilities are allowed to operate at 60 per cent capacity at one time. For golf courses, only 4 players are allowed in one flight, and only one user is allowed per buggy at a time. Users are reminded to bring their own equipment, and equipment sharing is not allowed. Aside that, Yang Berhormat said that organised sports, team sports and sports that involve contact activity are also not allowed. Every individual must make pre-booking and download the BruHealth app for QR registration and sports facility booking. Meanwhile, sports centre and facility owners should also maintain the booking and timetable to ensure the safety of users and staff. Users and premise managers are reminded to continue to practise the Ministry of Health’s guideline, and be socially responsible while at the sports facility. They should also be healthy, bring their own hand sanitizers, and ensure personal hygiene and cleanliness of the facility and equipment at all times.
