More than $270 million was proposed for the Ministry of Religious Affairs' Budget for the Financial Year 2023/2024. In his introduction, Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, the Minister of Religious Affairs stated although the ministry's allocation supports religious programmes, they impact positively on the people's well-being and national security.

In the context of the Brunei people and country it suits the purpose, direction and goals of Maqasid Sharia or 5 Main Purposes of Sharia which are the protection of religion, life, intellect, property and lineage. In this case lineage means ensuring the future survival or continuity of perfect human generations
