Hundred Tonnes of Barramundi Fish Breeding Achievement Ceremony

The establishment of Barramundi Group Brunei, BGB Sendirian Berhad, is to increase fish farming activities in the aquaculture sector in the country. Apart from that, it is also helps the country's efforts towards economic diversification which is expected to contribute to increased exports. In this regard, the BGB company yesterday morning held a 'Hundred Tonnes of Barramundi Fish Breeding Achievement Ceremony'. The ceremony was held at the Anjung Saujana Restaurant, Brunei International Airport. The fish will be marketed in the domestic market as well as exported under the 'Kuhlbarra' brand.

The ceremony was jointly officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong, Minister Of Primary Resources And Tourism; Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister At The Prime Minister's Office And Second Minister Of Finance And Economy And His Excellency Desmond Tan, Minister of Energy at the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment, Republic of Singapore.

Two agreements have been signed between the Fisheries Department, Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism and BGB, for the use of the Sungai Mangsalut Aquaculture site, Kampong Tanah Jambu and at the Pelong Ocean Fish Farm Site. Signing on behalf of the Ministry was Dayang Noraini binti Haji Anggas, Director of the Fisheries Department, while BGB was represented by Andreas Peter Illum Wildfang Von Scholten, Chief Executive Officer of Barramundi Group Limited.
