Hari Raya in Islam has two parts. First is the religious part and second is the festivities part namely Hari Raya Aidil Fitri and Hari Raya Aidil Adha. In celebrating these two matters, as a Muslim, one should celebrate the festivities in line with the religion. Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs shared this during the Hari Raya Aidil Fitri celebration for the Ministry of Religious Affairs and its Departments Hari Raya Celebration with Kampung Selapon residents. The celebration took place at the Kampung Selapon Da'wah Post in Temburong District, yesterday morning.
Yang Berhormat added, both celebrations are closely related to religion. Therefore it should not be celebrated excessively or against Islamic teachings.
Earlier, Awang Haji Abdul Rajid bin Haji Mohd Salleh, Director of the Islamic Da'wah Centre in his speech stated that the celebration held by the Ministry of Religious Affairs at the Kampung Selapon Da'wah Post aimed to foster close ties with the village residents.
The ceremony coincided with a conversion ceremony for Awang Lim Chee Kang who is now known as Muhammad Ar-Rayyan Lim bin Abdullah Lim. Also at the function 30 new converts received contributions. Among those present were the Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs and a Member of the Legislative Council.
