Grand Parade Ceremony

His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam in a titah stresses that the country must plan several economic recovery strategies, taking into account that Wawasan Brunei 2035 is approaching. Thus, the country, His Majesty says, must move its objective without hesitation including emphasising economic development.

In the titah at the Audience and Investiture Ceremony in conjunction with His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's 76th Birthday Anniversary celebration, His Majesty stresses that the government's move to diversify the economy has started to show results since the past five years.

On several Foreign Direct Investment, FDI companies operating this year, His Majesty expresses hope for locally operated Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises, MSME's will grab this opportunity. His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam's Birthday Anniversary Celebration began with the Grand Parade Ceremony which took place at Taman Haji Sir Muda Omar 'Ali Saifuddien in the capital, yesterday morning. His Majesty graced the ceremony.

The Grand Parade Ceremony in conjunction with the Birthday Anniversary Celebration took place in a joyous atmosphere with the presence of people from all walks of life.

Upon arriving, His Majesty was greeted by miniature Brunei Darussalam flags proudly waved by school students and beating of the hadrah.

Shortly after arrival, His Majesty received the Royal Salute. At the same time 21 cannon shots echoed in the air, to the accompaniment of the National Anthem.

Also in attendance at the ceremony were His Majesty's sons and brothers,

- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office;

- His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik;

- His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen;

- His Royal Highness Prince Mohamed Bolkiah;

- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah; AND

- His Royal Highness Prince Haji Jefri Bolkiah.

The tradition filled ceremony was also attended by His Majesty's special guests, among them,

- Yang Terhormat General Muhammad Andika Perkasa, Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces and wife, Ibu Hetty Andika Perkasa

- Yang Berbahagia General Tan Sri Dato' Sri Haji Affendi Buang, Commander of the Malaysian Armed Forces and wife, Yang Amat Mulia Tengku Puteri Seri Teja Dato' Hajah Tengku Muhaini binti Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta'in Billah;

- Mr. Carlos Garcia Dominguez the Third and wife, Madam Cynthia Andrews Dominguez, from the Republic of the Philippines.

His Majesty then inspected the Guard of Honour mounted by personnel from Royal Brunei Land Force, Royal Brunei Navy, Royal Brunei Air Force, the Royal Brunei Police Force, government departments as well as uniformed public organisations. The one thousand one hundred and thirty eight strong Guard of Honour was under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Fakrul Ammar bin Haji Mohammad Isa. The combined Royal Brunei Armed Forces and Royal Brunei Police Force Bands accompanied the march past in slow and fast pace in front of the Royal Dais.

The parade symbolises the dexterity of every personnel and agency as the main fortress for national defence and security. Three cheers of 'Daulat Kebawah Duli Tuan Patik' resounded in the air, representing a pledge of undivided loyalty to the monarch. The culmination of the Guard of Honour Ceremony was the fly-past by the Royal Brunei Air Force helicopters.

In these ever-challenging times, the celebration still emphasises health, safety and the environment especially in the organisation of planned events or activities.
