Generate Income through Agriculture

At first, with only on a small scale but now able to meet domestic demand. Such is the story of the persistence of some young local farmers in developing their enterprises to help improve the country's self-sufficiency in agriculture. Here's a report in conjunction with the 39th National Day Celebration on the spirit of bekarih, bejarih, belurih by the local youths in developing their business.

With the principles of bekarih, bejarih, belurih, Awang Jee Kwuit Foung runs his family's fruit farm, which is Syarikat Labulicous Farm, on a site with an area of about 6 hectares in the Rural Agricultural Development Area, KPLB, Kampung Merimbun, Tutong District. Since taking over the operation of the farm 3 years ago, Awang Jee Kwuit Foung works with his wife and family members with the first production of more than 3000 kilogrammes of pumpkins.

In order to further diversify his agricultural products, Awang Jee Kwuit Foung uses the 'crop cycle' method, which is to grow other crops besides pumpkins such as corn, eggplant and chili. He aims to further increase the quantity of his company's production for overseas markets.

The other young local entrepreneur, Mohd Noraiman Rusyaidi bin Roslan, 18 years old, although he has only been running Nara Agrofarm for the past few months by maintaining traditional methods, his company is able to produce 300 chickens a week. Chicken production capacity then increased to 500 chickens a week. Mohd Noraiman Rusyaidi runs the farm of an area of more than 4 hectares in Kampung Sungai Radang, Temburong District with his family members. He hopes to further expand his company until it becomes the main chicken producer in Temburong District.

With the spirits of bekarih, bejarih, belurih, these young entrepreneurs have the potential to become successful entrepreneurs in the field of agriculture to meet domestic demand. It can also diversify the country's economy while achieving food security targets.
