A video footage went viral on social media showing an individual inside a business premise and not wearing a face mask properly. The incident happened on the 14th of October at 10 in the morning at Pandan Empat, Jalan Jaya Negara, Kuala Belait. The senior citizen was initially reminded to wear a face mask by a shop assistant, which he ignored, prompting the shop assistant to contact the COVID-19 report hotline.
Police personnel from the Kuala Belait Police Station brought the man to the Suri Seri Begawan Hospital for COVID-19 swab test prior to further investigation. The 60-year-old man was release on police bail to allow information and evidence gathering before to be brought to the court. He was issued a compound fine for an offence under the Infectious Diseases Act 204.
