Measures to strengthen disaster risk prevention and improve emergency management capacity through enhanced coordination amongst the ASEAN Sectoral Bodies, ASEAN Shield, are among the ASEAN's efforts towards enhancing the community's well-being and life in facing the regional and global challenges. The Minister of Home Affairs highlighted the matter at the Ministerial Forum on International Cooperation in Disaster Risk Reduction and Emergency Management held virtually organised by the People's Republic of China, late yesterday afternoon.

Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Kerna Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Abu Bakar bin Haji Apong said that the efforts are in line with the Belt and Road initiative which is to improve capacity and strengthen sustainability in the field of disaster risk prevention. During the forum, Yang Berhormat also expressed appreciation to the People's Republic of China for exchanging view on collaboration development with the People's Republic of China in supporting the strategic establishment of disaster management, by improving the safety and well -being of the people while contributing to the building of resilient communities. This year, the ASEAN Ministerial Meeting on Disaster Management, AMMDM welcomed the inaugural Meeting of the AMMDM Plus China in signifying the objectives of ASEAN in embracing new partnerships.

With the theme, Strengthening Disaster Risk Prevention and Improve Emergency Management Capacity, the forum focused on the importance of the Belt and Road Initiative as well as consensus on cooperation in sustainability.
