Digital Training & Coaching To Address Skill Gap & Unemployment

The Harnessing Impact with Resilient Employability Digitally or HIRED project launched by the ASEAN Business Advisory Council, Brunei Darussalam aims to address the gap in skills and unemployment through digital training and mentoring among the industrial and unemployed workforce in ASEAN countries and regions. Launched on the 29th of September in the framework of the ASEAN Business Round Table session 'Skills for a Digital Age', the HIRED Project also aims to achieve the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals of Quality Education; Work suitable for all and supports inclusive economic growth.

In an interview through the zoom application with R-T-B reporters, Yang Berhormat Architect Dayang Siti Rozaimeriyanty binti Dato Seri Laila Jasa Haji Abdul Rahman, Member of the Legislative Council who is also the Chairman of the ASEAN Business Advisory Council Brunei Darussalam 2021 emphasized that the HIRED project is also guided by the ASEAN Economic Community, AEC in development of fair economy Development a fair economy and Brunei's 'Priority Economic Deliverables' under the digitalization core strategy in realising Wawasan 2 Thousand 35 for an educated and highly skilled nation.

According to Yang Berhormat FDR. AR Dayang Siti Rozaimeriyanty, the HIRED project has four main goals namely, to close the skills gap in the ASEAN region; second, bridging the skills gap and third is remaining relevant by building a sustainable ecosystem. It is also to balance labour supply and demand in the ASEAN region. The increase in digital adoption has changed the job landscape and industry skills needed in ASEAN and therefore, there is a need for improvement and the ability to adapt in the rapid digital development.

The HIRED project will provide opportunities for youths, the workforce and even the unemployed the benefit to improve their skills through digital skills training and mentoring programs on a platform easily accessible online in the ASEAN region which will make them more competent, able to compete and prepare in the working world towards post -pandemic recovery.
