The implementation of the Bru-HIMS ‘Enhancement Picture Archiving and Communication System’ – Bru-HIMS PACS plays an important role in clinical workflow in Radiology and Cardiology services. The Bru-HIMS PACS also supports the Ministry of Health’s aspirations in strengthening healthcare systems and services. The implementation of the Bru-HIMS PACS is also another important landmark of the ministry in realizing its vision towards excellence in the provision of healthcare services, in line with Wawasan Brunei 2035.

Bru-HIMS PACS is a digital technology in medical imaging for storage, management, distribution, easy access and display of quality and clearer medical images. The patient management system has two components covering Radiology for storing and archiving radiological images such as x-rays and CT scans; and Cardiology for storage and archiving of cardiac images including electrocardiograms, ECGs.

Through the system, all hospitals and health centres under the control of the Ministry of Health in the country can access it, thus realizing the goal of one patient, one record. According to the Ministry of Health, since Bru-HIMS PACS was used, several positive changes have been seen in the provision of Radiology services, among them a 99 percent reduction in x-ray film printing.
