The Opt-in Programme for the AstraZeneca vaccine has ended on 29th May, and a total of 20,108 doses of AstraZeneca vaccine has been administered since the 6th of May 2021. In a press release, the Ministry of Health stated that the administration of the COVID-19 vaccine will continue in accordance with the phases outlined in the National Vaccination Strategy for COVID-19, which is currently still in Phase One, namely for frontline personnel, senior citizens aged 60 and above and students who will continue their studies abroad.
Individuals in Phase One can make bookings for their vaccination slots through the BruHealth application. The COVID-19 vaccine injection is free for all citizens and residents residing in Brunei Darussalam. The implementation of the National Vaccination Program for COVID-19 will be implemented continuously until at least 70% of the population in Brunei Darussalam has received the COVID-19 vaccine.
To facilitate the COVID-19 vaccine injection process and avoid congestion at vaccination centres, as well as for convenience and to ensure that the waiting period is not long, the Ministry of Health seek the public cooperation to reserve slots for COVID-19 vaccine injection through the BruHealth application and walk-in is not recommended. The public must wear face mask and practice social distancing as well as to adhere to the instructions given by on-duty officers and staff at the vaccination centres.
