Regardless of status and religion, the World Children’s Day celebration is held to protect children from all types of violence, develop healthily and obtain learning to fulfill their potential. The celebration is also the country’s commitment to increase community unity and awareness of children’s rights. By achieving these rights, it is hoped to provide a bright future for children towards good development in achieving the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals.

Children are the most valuable asset for a country to achieve progress and a sustainable and high-quality future. According to the Preliminary Count of the Total Population in 2021 for the Population and Housing Census 2021, young people and children under the age of 18 comprise 25 percent of the total population in the country. In order to preserve the well-being of children in the country, the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports in collaboration with the whole of nation in 2022 launched the National Framework on Child Protection, NFCP. It aims to develop the child protection ecosystem in the country to ensure that they are able to live a safer and better quality life.

The NFCP Plan will also continue to be implemented by the relevant Ministry through the Department of Community Development by continuing the consultation session with stakeholders in addition to capacity development; book publishing; translation and establishment of ‘Registry of Children and Young Persons In Need of Protection’. Aside from that, a platform to help children in the country is also provided through the Talian Anak 121. In order to ensure that the well-being of children in the country continues to be preserved, various government and non-government agencies work together to implement charitable programmes to realize the best future for each child.
