Changi Aviation Summit 2022

Brunei Darussalam continues to strive for greater innovation and technological advancements through a 'whole of nation' approach. These advancements must be accompanied hand-in-hand by strengthened safety and security systems that will address non-traditional challenges including cybersecurity. The Minister of Transport and Infocommunications emphasized the matter while invited as a speaker in Panel Discussions on "Inclusive Innovation" with other government and industry representatives from the aviation sector. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof, attended The Changi Aviation Summit 2022, CAS 2022 held in Sands Expo and Convention Centre, Singapore recently.

During the panel discussion, Yang Berhormat among others shared Brunei Darussalam's own experiences and challenges faced by the COVID-19 pandemic especially in aviation sector. CAS 2022 was officiated by His Excellency S. Iswaran, Minister for Transport and Minister in charge of Trade-Relations, Singapore.

Several sideline events were also held including a courtesy call with His Excellency S. Iswaran, Minister for Transport and Minister in charge of Trade Relations, Singapore. Meanwhile, issues on matters and future of both aviation and land transport also discussed with Datuk Seri Engineer Doctor Wee Ka Siong, Minister of Transport, Malaysia.

The delegation also conducted working visits to several agencies related to transport sector in Singapore, including the Changi Airport Group and the Land Transport Authority. During the summit, the Ministers of Transport from Southeast Asia also released and adopted the "Joint Support for the Recovery of the Civil Aviation Sector". In the support for the recovery of aviation sector as a whole and towards sustainability, A Joint Communique was also released during the summit. Theme for this year's summit is "Readying for Take-off: A Brighter & Cleaner Tomorrow".
