– Brunei’s consumer price index (CPI) rose 4.1 percent, year on year, in July, showed the latest official data, released yesterday.

According to the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics, under the Ministry of Finance and Economy, the CPI rise was in line with the increases in food and non-alcoholic beverages, and non-food price indices, of 6.8 percent and 3.5 percent, respectively.

The data showed that the July increase in food and non-alcoholic beverages price index was driven by price hikes of meat, fish and seafood, and oil and fats.

The country saw the overall CPI from Jan to Jul, register an increase of 3.6 percent, compared to the same period last year.

CPI is a measure of price changes of goods and services, paid by the consumer, in a specified period.
