The publication of the Rhythm and Songs book Collection of “O Kanak-Kanak” in 2021 which brings together 56 traditional children’s songs has catalysed awareness to continue reviving the country’s heritage. The matter was stated at the Brunei Traditional Children Songs: Creative Talk Ceremony yesterday morning at the Language and Literature Bureau in Berakas.

Pengiran Mohammad Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Permanent Secretary for Sports at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports also said that the traditional children songs are believed to be one of the mediums to make it easier for children to foster the moral values and messages found in songs. The ceremony was one of the Brunei Malay Cultural Arts and Literature Festival’s activities in conjunction with the Language Month Celebration 2022 which was organized by the Language and Literature Bureau through the Research, Documentation and Recognition Division. It aims to spread knowledge on traditional Bruneian children’s songs so that they remain relevant and known by the community.
