The Cancer Awareness Month is celebrated in October annually as an effort to raise awareness and knowledge as well as to decrease the stigma surrounding breast cancer. In line with that, various institutions, agencies and healthcare centres in the country have organised breast cancer awareness campaigns. The Brunei Breast Cancer Awareness Group yesterday morning with the support from the Masjid Universiti Brunei Darussalam Muslimah Guidance Class, Pantai Jerudong Specialist Centre and the Health Promotion Centre, Ministry of Health organised a forum.
The forum entitled, 'Breast Cancer Can Be Prevented and Cured' was discussed by four panellists, namely Awang Haji Sammali bin Haji Adam, Director of International and Public Relation Centre at the Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, UNISSA; Doctor Hajah Amalinda binti Pehin Orang Kaya Indera Pahlawan Dato Seri Setia Haji Suyoi from the General Surgery Department, RIPAS Hospital; Doctor Raden Mas Jeffri bin Raden Mas Ismail, Oncology Specialist, PJSC; and Dayang Suryani binti Haji Abu Bakar who shared her experience with cancer. The forum was attended by more than 500 people including Mosque Muslimah from the four districts, officials from the government and private sectors and members of women's organisations.
