Assistance Application through National Welfare System

The Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy also explained on the procedures and criteria to obtain assistance such as employers who lost their jobs and were given an unpaid leave. Aside from that, applicants are required to present their assistance application through the National Welfare System or SKN and applicants need to register and contribute actively with the Employees Trust Fund, TAP at least until July 2021. Meanwhile, a declaration letter from employer must be uploaded into SKN with the letter stating the commencement date they were terminated due to the impact of COVID-19 to the company not due to disciplinary actions taken by the company or employee resigning on his own.

Yang Berhormat said that employees who are on an unpaid leave exceeding 7 days whether due to the impact of COVID-19 outbreak to the company or has been issued a Quarantine Order from the Ministry of health, a letter from employer guaranteeing their work after the situation returns to normal and a screenshot of Quarantine Order from the BruHealth application must be uploaded into SkN.

While for those who are Self-Employed or a freelancer are advised to present their applications through SKN to obtain the monthly welfare assistance allowances, BKB, which can be accessed through SKN's website at www.skn.gov.bn whereby the Ministry of Finance and Economy will collaborate with the Community Development Department, Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports to ensure the applications are processed according to the appropriate period. Meanwhile for employees who return to work after been given an unpaid leave exceeding 7 days, employer can obtain the salary payment subsidy assistance of 30 percent for a period of 3 months from the time the employee returns back to work where the assistance is subject to the assessment made by the Ministry of Finance and Economy from time to time.
