ASEAN Ministers Responsible for Culture and Arts Meeting

With the theme ‘Menggalakkan peranan Kebudayaan dan Kesenian ASEAN dalam Pasca COVID-19 untuk Pembangunan Mampan’, or ‘Encouraging the role of ASEAN Culture and Arts in Post-COVID-19 for Sustainable Development’, the 10th Meeting of the ASEAN Ministers Responsible for Culture and Arts, AMCA and Meetings related to Dialogue Partners were held via online. The meetings among others focused on the rapid increase in digital usage in many sectors which creates opportunities to improve the socio-cultural and economic sectors.

 

Joining the meeting was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. The meeting also shared concrete methods for mobilizing culture and the arts for post-pandemic recovery, including strengthening support for the development of creative industries and the use of new technologies to protect and preserve cultural heritage. The meeting continued with the presentation session of the “ASEAN City of Culture” recognition to the city of Vientiane, Lao People’s Democratic Republic for the period 2022 to 2024. Under the cooperation of Dialogue Partners Plus Three, the ministers took note of the progress of the implementation of the ASEAN Plus Three Culture and Arts Cooperation Work Plan 2022 to 2025, appreciation for China’s efforts in the implementation of the new Work Plan of ASEAN-China Cooperation in Culture, as well as Japan’s support in promoting ASEAN awareness and the efforts of the Republic of Korea in increasing cooperation in the field of arts and culture.
