Many countries in ASEAN are looking at how to transform their healthcare systems to provide higher and more personalised levels of care to their citizens, yet do so in a sustainable manner and mitigate costs. Technology will be a key enabler to realising this ideal scenario. The Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy was speaking in his welcoming remark during the Opening Ceremony of the 2nd ASEAN Digital Public Health, DPH Conference. It was held yesterday afternoon at the Empire Brunei.

Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah further added the need for rejuvenation of healthcare systems has also been exacerbated since COVID-19 spread across the world nearly three years ago, decimating lives and livelihoods across the globe. But a silver lining of the pandemic is that it has catalysed the adoption of digital solutions in healthcare.

It was followed by Opening Remarks by Dato Paduka Lim Jock Hoi, ASEAN Secretary-General. Also present was Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Haji Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health.

Meanwhile during the Fireside Chat session, Yang Berhormat among others addressed the unsustainable rise in healthcare costs, evaluating the effectiveness and returns of healthcare investments and key initiatives in ensuring more sustainable healthcare financing. The two day conference hosted by the Ministry of Finance and Economy and Ministry of Health is organised by EVYD Technology, Brunei Investment Agency and the National University of Singapore Saw Swee Hock School of Public Health; and supported by Temasek Foundation.
