Four more cosmetic products were found to be adulterated with undeclared, potent western medicine. The findings were the result of laboratory tests by the Pharmacy Division, Department of Scientific Services, Ministry of Health.

The affected cosmetic products are Karisma Cosmetic Sparkle Skin – Karisma Preventing Day Cream; Karisma Cosmetic Sparkle Skin – Karisma Perfect UV Sunscreen; JF Kejelitaan Inspirasiku JF Cream Herba; and JF Kejelitaan Inspirasiku JF Cream Treatment. The adulterant found in these products can cause adverse effects that are potentially hazardous to health.

The Ministry of Health has not issued any approval for importation for the sale or Cosmetic Product Notification Acknowledgement Letter for the sale of the affected products. Following these findings, these products are not allowed to be imported and sold in Brunei Darussalam. Members of the public who have purchased or used these products are advised to stop using them immediately. Selling any product containing any controlled substance is an offence under the Poisons Act 1956 and can be fined $8,000 or six months imprisonment.
