Adulterated Cosmetic Product

A cosmetic product, tested by the Laboratory of Pharmacy Section, Department of Scientific Services, Ministry of Health was found to be adulterated with undeclared, potent western medicine.

In its press release, the Ministry of Health informed the product 'Puteri Ratu Treatment Cream-Whitening Cream' from Malaysia is adulterated with Mercury. Mercury is a potent ingredient that is prohibited in cosmetic products as stipulated in the Medicines, Cosmetic Products, Regulations 2007. Retail of the product including online retail such as through Facebook is an offence under the Medicines, Cosmetic Products Regulations, 2007. If found guilty, a fine not exceeding $5,000, imprisonment for a term not exceeding two years or both.
