Brunei Darussalam is currently in the Northeast Monsoon Season, with the country experiencing unsettled weather conditions with occasional heavy showers or thundershowers expected especially during the evening to early morning.

As of 8.50 in the morning yesterday, Typhoon 'Rai' has been observed over the Western Pacific Ocean at approximately 2 thousand 47 kilometres away from the country. Typhoon 'Rai' is expected to continue moving northwest-wards, towards the South China Sea. At the same time, a low pressure system has been observed over the Southern part of South China Sea.

Typhoon 'Rai' is expected to indirectly influence the country's weather situation starting from the 16th until 20th of December 2021, causing active weather conditions with occasional gusty and heavy showers especially at sea and the coastal areas. Wind gusts are expected to increase up to 50 kilometres per hour with sea state reaching to Rough condition up to 2.5 metres. However, the low pressure system over the Southern part of South China Sea is expected to NOT affect our country's weather condition.
