9th ITQSHHB Haflut Takharruj

His Royal Highness Prince Haji Al-Muhtadee Billah ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah, the Crown Prince and Senior Minister at the Prime Minister's Office in a sabda urged for the halaqah or incentive programmes to nurture as well as enhance Al-Quran reading, memorisation and tadabbur skills continue to be activated and increased further. His Royal Highness made the sabda at the 9th Haflut Takharruj or Convocation of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute, yesterday morning. The ceremony took place at the Intenational Convention Centre in Berakas.

Upon arrival, His Royal Highness was greeted by Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs and Yang Berhormat Pehin Dato Seri Maharaja Dato Paduka Seri Setia Doctor Ustaz Haji Awang Abdul Aziz bin Juned, the State Mufti as well as the Ceremony's Executive Committee members.

Also in attendance was His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Malik ibni His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah.

The reading of the holy verses of Al-Quran, from Surah Al-Mutaffifin, was presented by Awang Auni Marzuqi bin Haji Anuar while the interpretation was read by Awang Muhammad Ekram 'Afif bin Haji Awang Mohd Hanafi.

The Minister of Religious Affairs in his welcoming address among other matters hoped that the graduates will use the knowledge and skills of memorising al-Quran verses well. Yang Berhormat Pehin said, with that al-Quran which is place in an exalted position in the country, will bring about numerous blessings to the country, especially those that are truly hoped for namely peace, tranquillity as well as well-being that are perpetual to be enjoyed by generations.

His Royal Highness in his sabda outlined that society's tendency in perpetuating the practice of Al-Quran reading and Tadabbur as well as certain Zikir and Doa, can now be practised through various forms of the latest mass media, solely to earn Allah's intercession in the world and Hereafter as well as blessings. In the sabda, His Royal Highness said this is also to seek prevention from all forms of disaster stemming from 'hubbud dunia' or love for the world.

His Royal Highness in the sabda also touched on the titah of His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam at the 9th Haflut Takharruj of Sultan Sharif Ali Islamic University, UNISSA, on the valid opinion that places Higher Islamic studies as a basic requirement that cannot be neglected as from it a complete civilisation emerges.

His Royal Highness then presented 'Aliyah Qira'at Diploma to 20 graduates. From the total, 10 graduates received the Mumtaz or Excellent Grades, 8 received Jayyid Jiddan or Very Good grades, and 2 others received Jayyid or Good grades. They were the 9th intake for the 'Aliyah Qira'at Diploma from 2018 to 2021.

The conferment of Al-Quran 'Aliyah Qiraat Diploma to the graduates of the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute is a recognition of the students' success, specifically in Al-Quran memorisation and Qira'at Knowledge, simultaneously realising the institute's vision as a prominent tahfiz and Al-Quran development institute at the national, regional and international levels. Their success has increased the institute's alumni to 174.

Doa selamat was read by Yang Berhormat Pehin Orang Kaya Paduka Seri Utama Dato Paduka Seri Setia Haji Awang Salim bin Haji Besar.

As the only Tahfiz Al-Quran Institute that offers studies at the Diploma and secondary levels in the country, the institute has served the country with participations in Al-Quran Memorisation competitions at the regional and international levels as well as involvement of the undergraduates and students as Imam or Prayer Leaders during the Sunat Terawih Prayers at mosques nationwide during the month of Ramadhan.
