75th Anniversary of Operation OBOE VI

​Brunei Darussalam and Australia have built an effective defence partnership that contributes to the security and prosperity of both region. The Australian High Commission and U.S. Embassy commemorated the 75th anniversary of Operation OBOE, the landing of allied forces in the country during the Second World War. The event was held yesterday morning at Muara beach.

 

Present was Major General Pengiran Dato Paduka Seri Aminan bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Commander of the Royal Brunei Armed Forces, RBAF. Over 75,000 Australians participated in the OBOE campaign to liberate Borneo towards the end of the Second World War on 1945. The ceremony also to remember and commemorate the service and sacrifice of all those who lost their lives during the war. Also present were Her Excellency Nicola Rosenblum, Australia High Commissioner to Brunei Darussalam and Scott Woodard, Charge D’affaires of US Embassy.
