75 New Cases, 3 New Clusters, 221 Recovered

75 new COVID-19 cases were confirmed yesterday, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 13,321. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health stated the matter during the media conference on the latest COVID-19 situation, yesterday afternoon at Dewan Al'Afiah, Ministry of Health.

There are 26 additional new cases to 8 of the existing active clusters who were previously close contacts with several positive cases. Meanwhile, three new clusters were detected that involved 20 cases. The new clusters namely Syazwanes Contractor Sendirian Berhad Cluster, Meem Sendirian Berhad Cluster and Ban 3 Construction Staffhouse Cluster are housing clusters where the companies' employees are residing. 1 cluster was closed following no new detected cases in the clusters for 28 days. The closed cluster is 5182 Cluster. Therefore, the current total active clusters stand at 172. In addition, there are 3 import cases have been recorded today, whereby two of the cases arrived in Brunei Darussalam from Kuala Lumpur on board Royal Brunei Airlines BI 874 on the 20th of October 2021. Whereas, one case arrived in the country from manila on board Royal Brunei Airlines BI 684 on the 27th of October 2021. Twenty-six new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of the infection. Meanwhile, 221cases have recovered today, bringing the total number of recovered cases to 11,723 cases, with 1 thousand 508 cases remaining active.

Among the cases, 6 are in Category 5 and are being treated at the Intensive Care Unit. All of them require assistance of artificial ventilation with two cases requiring additional heart/lung machine, or ECMO. Fifteen cases in Category 4 require oxygen assistance and are under close monitoring. In the past 24 hours, 5,047 samples have been tested for the SARS-CoV-2 virus which brings the total number of lab tests carried out since January 2020 to 512,574.
