68th Meeting of the Governing Board Members of SEAMEO INNOTECH

Digital transformation is a key agenda in Brunei Darussalam, particularly following the launch of the Digital Economy Masterplan 2025, which aspires for Brunei to become a Smart Nation in line with the vision of Wawasan Brunei 2035. According to the Minister of Education, following the benefits of digital innovation in education, various challenges also need to be taken into account such as the Digital Gap; Cyber Security and Privacy; and Resistance to Change. Therefore, efforts to innovate and adapt must continue to overcome concerns. Speaking at the 68th Meeting of the Governing Board Members for the Southeast Asian Ministers of Education Organisation Regional Centre for Educational Innovation and Technology, SEAMEO INNOTECH, Yang Berhormat Datin Seri Setia Doctor Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Md Salleh stated that artificial intelligence, A-I and machine learning technologies have the potential to revolutionise education by providing real-time feedback, automating task administration and offering personalised
learning experiences.

With theme “Empowering Education through Digital Innovation: Strategies, Challenges, and Future Directions”, the 3-day meeting focussed on the future direction of SEAMEO INNOTECH, including reports on the centre’s achievements, updating the education programme, as well as progress in areas such as knowledge management, research, capacity development and human resources. Co-organised by the Department of Educators Management, Ministry of Education and SEAMEO INNOTECH, the meeting was held on 23rd October morning, at a hotel in Gadong.
