Six Bruneians were awarded the Fulbright Foreign Student Scholarship and the Fulbright U.S-ASEAN Visiting Scholarship during the Fulbright Programme’s 75th anniversary yesterday afternoon at Kampong Katok.
The Fulbright Programme is the flagship international educational exchange program sponsored by the U.S Government, designed to increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and other countries. To date, 29 Bruneians have received Fulbright Scholarships. Nazirul Rusydi Roslan and Samuel Song Fa Shie were awarded 2021 Fulbright Foreign Student Programme scholarships, while Norhayatunajibah Kifli, an education officer at the Ministry of Education received the 2021 Fulbright U.S-ASEAN Visiting Scholarship.
Meanwhile, Fulbright 2020 awardees who were unable to travel to the United States because of pandemic travel restrictions were also formally recognised. The recipients are Doctor Helena Hurairah and Doctor Roslynna Rosli for the 2020 Fulbright U.S-ASEAN Visiting Scholars programme, and Tiwin Aji for the 2020 Fulbright Foreign Student Programme.
