57 New Cases, 106 Recovered

57 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed yesterday, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 13,962.

There are 19 additional new cases to 8 of the existing active clusters who were previously close contacts with several positive cases. Meanwhile, 2 new clusters have been detected that involved 21 cases. The new clusters are residence clusters, namely Soon Lee Mentiri Staff House Cluster and LSL Lugu Staff House Cluster which are housing clusters where the companies' employees are residing. SIX clusters have been closed following no new detected cases in the clusters for 28 days. Therefore, the current total active clusters are 172 clusters. 17 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of the infection.

106 cases have recovered bringing the total number of recovered cases in Brunei Darussalam to 13,114 cases, with 753 cases remaining active. Among the cases, 7 cases are in Category 5 and are being treated at the Intensive Care Unit. All of them require assistance of artificial ventilation with one case requiring the help of additional heart/lung machine or ECMO. Two Category 4 cases require oxygen assistance and are under close monitoring. In the past 24 hours, 4,326 samples have been tested for the SARS-Co-V-2 virus which brings the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 544,282 tests.
