45 New Cases, 68 Cases Recovered

Brunei Darussalam enters the first day of the Transition Phase yesterday with 45 confirmed new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of COVID-19 cases to 14,444. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Haji Awang Mohd Isham bin Haji Jaafar, Minister of Health, stated the matter during the media conference on the latest COVID-19 situation in Brunei Darussalam. The media conference took place yesterday afternoon at Dewan Al'Afiah, Ministry of Health.

There is 36 additional new cases to the 9 existing active clusters who were previously close contacts with several positive cases. Meanwhile, no new cluster has been detected yesterday. Two clusters have been closed following no new detected cases in the clusters for 28 days. The closed clusters are 2230 and HHY Construction staff house. Therefore, the current total active clusters are 159 clusters. 9 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of the infection.

68 cases have recovered bringing the total number of recovered cases in Brunei Darussalam to 13,925, with 421 cases remaining active. Among the cases, 5 cases are in Category 5 and are being treated at the Intensive Care Unit. All of them require assistance of artificial ventilation. There is no other Category 4 case which require oxygen assistance and close monitoring. In the past 24 hours, 3,472 samples have been tested for the SARS-Co-V-2 virus which brings the total number of laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 578,775 tests.
