The 39 Times Khatam Al-Quran Ceremony was held to enliven the 39th National Day celebration by organising beneficial activities, specifically Al-Quran reading inline with the aspiration of becoming a Zikir Nation. Organised by the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports, the ceremony was held simultaneously in the 4 districts, 18th March morning.

In the Brunei Muara District, the function took place at Ar-Rahman Mosque, Kampung Tanjung Bunut. Present, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Nazmi bin Haji Mohamad, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. The reading of Surah Al-Fatihah was led by Awang Haji Zakaria bin Haji Serudin, Permanent Secretary for Youth at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

A similar ceremony was held at Pengiran Anak Haji Mohamed Alam Mosque in Tutong District. Among those present, Pengiran Dato Seri Paduka Haji Mohammad Tashim bin Pengiran Haji Hassan, Deputy Minister of Religious Affairs. Also in attendance, Awang Mohammad Sofian bin Haji Basri, Acting Tutong District Officer.

Whereas in Belait District, the ceremony took place at Muhammad Jamalul Alam Mosque in Kuala Belait. In attendance, Pengiran Haji Mohd Hasnan bin Pengiran Haji Ali Hassan, Permanent Secretary for Culture at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.

The Kampung Rataie National Housing Scheme Mosque was the focal point of the function in Temburong District. Present, Pengiran Mohammad Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Permanent Secretary for Sports at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports.
