The Second Meeting of the ASEAN Senior Economic Officials For the 52nd ASEAN Economic Ministers Meeting among others welcomed the steady progress of the Priority Economic Deliverables, PEDs, under Brunei Darussalam's ASEAN Chairmanship 2021. The meeting also endorsed one of the PEDs which is on Non-Tariff Measures or NTM Toolkit. The 3-day meeting which is held starting yesterday is a follow-up to the outcomes and directions by the ASEAN Economic Ministers at the 27th ASEAN Economic Ministers Retreat that was held virtually on the 2nd to 3rd of March 2021. The Meeting will discuss the 2021 Annual Priorities and endorse progress reports of sectoral bodies under the SEOM's purview.
The meeting was chaired by Dr Hajah May Fa'ezah binti Haji Ahmad Ariffin, Permanent Secretary for Economy at the Ministry of Finance and Economy. The meeting will also discuss progress of implementation of Post COVID-19 recovery efforts including initiatives under the ASEAN Comprehensive Recovery Framework, ACRF. The Meeting will exchange views on the way forward towards enhancing ASEAN's economic relations with its dialogue partners including Canada, People's Republic of China, India, Japan, Republic of Korea and the United States in preparation for the SEOM – Dialogue Partners' Consultations that will take place on the 14th to the 15th of June 2021. Also in attendance were Senior Economic Officials from the ASEAN Member States and senior officials from the ASEAN Secretariat.
