242 New Cases, 8 New Clusters Detected

242 new COVID-19 cases have been confirmed yesterday, bringing the total cases to 7,568.

There are 55 additional new cases to 16 existing active clusters who were previously close contacts with several positive cases. 8 new clusters have been detected, bringing the total number of active clusters to 131 clusters. The clusters are the 7266 Cluster that contains 6 cases, 7215 Cluster with 4 cases, 6987 Cluster with 4 cases, 7327 Cluster that contains 4 cases, 7339 Cluster with 7 cases, Guardian Distribution Centre Cluster with 6 cases, Soon Lee Heavy Machineries Cluster that contains 6 cases and Syarikat Dayang Damit dan Rakan-Rakan Cluster with 12 cases.

1 imported case was recorded yesterday, who arrived in the country from Manila via Singapore on the 19th of September 2021 on board flight Singapore SQ 146. 137 new cases are still being investigated to determine the source of infections. Meanwhile, 149 cases have recovered, taking the total recovered cases to 5,192, whereas the total number active cases are 2,321 cases. Among the cases being treated at the National Isolation Centre, 6 are in Category 5 and currently treated at the Intensive Care Unit. All require assistance of artificial ventilation with one case requiring the help of an additional heart/lung machine, ECMO. 30 cases in Category 4 are under close monitoring. In the past 24 hours, 3,857 samples have been tested for the SARS-Co-V-2 virus, taking the total laboratory tests conducted since January 2020 to 364,939.
