His Royal Highness Prince Haji Sufri Bolkiah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar ‘Ali Saifuddien Sa’adul Khairi Waddien, President of the National Olympic Council of Brunei Darussalam in a sabda called on national sports associations to always ensure and make more detailed plans for their athletes. This, His Royal Highness said, is very important for any athlete in preparing to face championships either in the short or long term. His Royal Highness made the sabda at the 22nd Commonwealth Games Post-Mortem Meeting, 14th September morning. The meeting took place at Hassanal Bolkiah National Stadium, Berakas. In the sabda, His Royal Highness emphasised that national sports associations should not expect assistance from the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports and the Department of Youth and Sports in preparing and planning. In fact, the associations involved, His Royal Highness added, need to be proactive in finding ways and strive for the interest and welfare of the athletes.

His Royal Highness emphasised that conflict will not bring results, but will only lead to downfall. Therefore, national sports associations should always be creative in finding solutions to ensure harmony between associations and athletes.

The meeting reviewed the Commonwealth Games report by Dayangku Siti Amal Jariah binti Pengiran Haji Matjenin, as Chef de Mission. In the report, she among other matters offered several suggestions to improve the achievements of athletes. Among those present was Pengiran Mohammad Amirrizal bin Pengiran Haji Mahmud, Permanent Secretary for Sports at the Ministry of Culture, Youth and Sports as Chairman of the Executive Committee for the Evaluation and Selection of National Athletes.
