A number of development projects have been expediently carried out since the opening the Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Bridge. It is to fulfil the short term goal of generating economic and employment opportunities for locals. According to the Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy, the bridge's construction was a 'game-changer' to the economic opportunities in Temburong District. Therefore, a number of areas have been identified to stimulate economic development in Temburong District such as Bangar Town which can be made into a commercial and administrative zone. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah as the Co-Chairman of the Temburong District Development Authority, AKDT in the Special Programme 'Temburong: Permata Hijau Negara Brunei Darussalam' or Temburong: Green Jewel Of Brunei Darussalam hoped the coordination and cooperation from all parties including the government and private sectors, are vital towards ensuring the inclusive development of Temburong District.
In the mid-term, the AKDT will continue Temburong Ditrict's development in line with the national agenda such as its involvement in agriculture activity enhancement efforts to achieve food security. The AKDT is also increasing efforts to assist micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) through a collaboration with Darussalam Enterprise, DARe, in which the MSME's are hoped to use the bridge in expanding their market. In the long-term, we need to work together to ensure Temburong District can compete with other countries as the main tourism destination and enjoyed by all while preserving the existing environment. The AKDT is simultaneously exploring Foreign Direct Investment opportunities to develop locations with the potential as eco-recreation parks.
