His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu'izzaddin Waddaulah ibni Al-Marhum Sultan Haji Omar 'Ali Saifuddien Sa'adul Khairi Waddien, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam, Yesterday morning received a courtesy call from His Excellency Ph?m Minh Chính, Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam, which took place at Grand Hyatt Hotel in Jakarta. Also in attendance was His Royal Highness Prince 'Abdul Mateen.
Accompanying His Excellency were Mr. Bui Thanh Son, Minister of Foreign Affairs; Mr. Tran Van Son, Minister and Chairman of the Office of the Government; and Nguyen Quoc Dzung, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
Also present were Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Doctor Awang Haji Mohd Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister's Office and Second Minister of Finance and Economy; and Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Erywan bin Pehin Datu Pekerma Jaya Haji Mohd. Yusof, Second Minister of Foreign Affairs.
During the courtesy call, His Excellency expressed the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam's full support to Brunei Darussalam as ASEAN Chair in 2021, towards collectively achieving the intended deliverables.
At the courtesy call, which marks the first meeting between the two leaders, His Majesty the Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan of Brunei Darussalam also congratulated His Excellency on his recent appointment as the Prime Minister of the Socialist Republic of Viet Nam.
His Majesty and His Excellency also discussed bilateral cooperation between both countries as well as exchanged views on regional issues of mutual importance, including sharing of experiences in handling the COVID-19 pandemic; promoting trade and investment; as well as cooperation in agriculture and energy.
