3 more health products and 1 cosmetic product were found to be adulterated with undeclared, potent western medicine, after lab testing by the Pharmaceutical Section, Scientific Services Department, Ministry of Health. The adulterants in the products can cause adverse effects that are potentially hazardous to the people using them.
The products are:
- Erat Kasih Sines manufactured by Bella Formula Marketing, Pulau Pinang, Malaysia adulterated Chlorpheniramine, Dexamethasone, Betamethasone.
- Pill Gemuk, Orange Tablet - Kalbe, adulterated with Cyproheptadine
- Pill Gemuk (Yellow Tablet – MEF) adulterated with Betamethasone, Dexamethasone
- Meanwhile Skin Magical Rejuvenating Set No. 3 Rejuvenating Cream No.3 produced in Philippines adulterated with Hydroquinone.
The Ministry of Health has not issued any approval for the importation for the sale of these products and Cosmetic Product Notification Acknowledgement Letter for the sale of the products. Following these findings, the products are not allowed to be imported and sold in Brunei Darussalam. It is an offence under the Poisons Act 1956 to sell any products containing controlled substances under the Act and can be fined eight thousand dollars or six months imprisonment if found guilty.
