Sales Regulations

A textiles store in the Brunei Muara District, Buner Textile Mall Sendirian Berhad was issued a one-thousand-dollar compound fine for violating the Sales Regulations. In the press release by the Department of Economic Planning and Statistics, DEPS, Ministry of Finance and economy, Buner Textile Mall Sendirian Berhad was found to have inflated its 'normal' or pre-sale prices on a number of on-sale items, thereby misleading consumers into a false sense of savings.

The store was also found to have produced false business records during an inspection by the Department of Competition and Consumer Affairs, DCCA. The store was found to have conducted offences under Regulations 16 one and 16 three of the Sales Regulations, whereby businesses are to provide truthful information on discount prices.
