Launching of Brunei Darussalam Literacy Competency Framework

The Pillar ONE committee, National Financial Literacy Council has published a Framework Book specifically for Years 1 to 6 students. The Permanent Secretary at the Ministry of Education shared the matter during the launching of the Brunei Darussalam Literacy Competency Framework For Primary Level Book, held this afternoon at the ministry.

Since the establishment of the National Financial Literacy Council in November 2017, the Ministry of Education has been entrusted to lead Pillar ONE, which is financial education. Doctor Shamsiah Zuraini Kanchanawati binti Haji Tajuddin as Head of Pillar ONE explained that the Framework Book was published as a reference source in improving the school curriculum by including the concept of financial literacy that is appropriate for the students age. She also hoped that teachers will make full use of the framework book as a reference and guidance in relaying financial education knowledge to their students. She also urged students to use their own creativity and be innovative in their teaching and learning as well as using interactive and relevant source materials to attract the students interest on the importance of financial education.

The launch of the book was officiated by Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Hamzah bin Haji Sulaiman, Minister of Education and Chairman of the National Financial Literacy Council. The production of the framework book, among others, is intended as a reference material for all levels of society in an effort to increase knowledge and skills on the importance of orderly and systematic financial management. Also held was a mini exhibition displaying the process of producing the framework book. Also in attendance was Datin Seri Paduka Dr. Hajah Romaizah binti Haji Mohd Salleh, Deputy Minister of Education.
