The Council approved the allocation for the Ministry of Development amounting to $222,125,700 to be made as part of the Supply Bill 2021/2022 Schedule.
The afternoon session heard the introduction on the budget allocation for the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications. Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Abdul Mutalib bin Pehin Orang Kaya Seri Setia Dato Paduka Haji Mohammad Yusof, Minister of Transport and Infocommunications in his deliberations explained the ministry's directive policy which is guided by three main strategic policies. Firstly is the Digital Economy Master Plan 2025 under the Digital Economy Council as the main policy to make Brunei Darussalam into a Smart Nation as well as boost and increase the country's socio-economic growth through digital transformation. Secondly is the Ministry of Transport and Infocommunications' strategic plan 2025 to uphold Wawasan Brunei 2035. Finally is Brunei Darussalam's road safety strategic plan 2025 to drive the safety initiative and land transport sector standards in Brunei Darussalam.
As a basis of digital transformation, several initiatives have and will be implemented. Firstly, the e-government national centre, EGNC project which is the National Centralised Database, NCDB under the 11th National Development Plan, NDP with an allocation of $8.9 million. This includes a national information hub for the provision of a safe and assured data sharing platform. Secondly is centralising license funding for computers used by the ministries with an allocation of $8.2 million under the EGNC. The payment of licenses in a centralised manner contributes to optimal and prudent use of resources.
