New Normal in Religious Education Services

In the afternoon session, the Council heard the presentation of the allocation of the Ministry of Religious Affairs for the Financial Year 2021-2022 amounting to two hundred ninety-six million, eight hundred twenty-seven thousand, two hundred sixty-three dollars ($296,827,263.00).

While introducing the allocation of the Ministry of Religious Affairs, Yang Berhormat Pehin Udana Khatib Dato Paduka Seri Setia Ustaz Haji Awang Badaruddin bin Pengarah Dato Paduka Haji Awang Othman, Minister of Religious Affairs explained about the new normals in religious education services.

For religious education services, despite being affected by the closure of schools for some time but students' learning can be continued with the preparation of home learning packs and online learning. The results are very positive and based on the Key Performance Indicators, KPIs; religious education can effectively produce an intellectual and professional generation. Public examinations in 2020, showed an increase of 9.74 per cent of students who managed to get 5 'A's in PSR examinations. Meanwhile, for the 'O' Level examination, the general examination recorded an increase of more than 10 percent, that is 10.05 per cent of students managed to obtain 5 'O' Level and above, while for the 'A' Level examination, there was an increase of 4.25 per cent of students who obtained 2 'A' Level and above. It should also be recorded that the Public Examinations mentioned are under the country's National Education System, where Arabic and Religious School students also take general subjects besides Religious and Arabic subjects. This highlights the importance of giving more attention to ensure uniformity in the students' education.
