The Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism has a strategy towards the use of modern techniques in further increasing the production of the agricultural sector. The Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism outlined the matter to respond a query by Yang Berhormat Awang Haji Tahamit bin Haji Nudin on initiatives to further develop the country's agriculture and fisheries industry.
At this time, an experiment is being made to introduce rice seeds that can produce up to 8 tonnes per hectare. With 8 hybrid technologies, the production per hectare can be increased and will enrich the farmers. Similarly with the techniques of using hydroponics, fertigation and aquaponics, all these aim to save on area and energy, but double the yield to the farmers. Importantly, first is doubling the yield and second, it is consistent and safe to eat.
