The First Meeting of the 17th Legislative Council in its eighth day yesterday approved the allocation for the Ministry of Primary Resources and Tourism amounting to over sixty eight million dollars to be made as part of the Supply Bill 2021/2022 Schedule. The Council also deliberated on the allocation of over two hundred ninety-six million dollars for the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Awang Haji Ali bin Apong, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism while deliberating the ministry's allocation yesterday morning also shared the ministry's achievements in the agriculture, fisheries, forestry and tourism sectors throughout 2020.
Yang Berhormat said the total output of broilers in 2020 increased by 7.24 per cent to 26,364.82 metric tonnes which is the highest level of output ever achieved by the country. Total chicken egg production in 2020 increased by 7.71 per cent to 171.9 million eggs. Meanwhile, total output of buffaloes and cows for 2020, increased by 46.67 per cent to 2,148.75 metric tonnes. Total rice production for 2020 increased by 67.4 per cent to 2,511.31 metric tonnes. Total rice imports for 2020 decreased by 6.02 per cent to 34,082.02 metric tonnes and total fish and shrimp production for 2020 increased by 10 per cent to 16,120 metric tonnes.
